Leveraging Breakout Learning’s Unique Differentiator Amidst AI Hesitation
Breakout Learning offers professors a more effective way to teach through dynamic multimedia delivered to students in online breakout groups, followed by highly engaging small-group discussions that are seamlessly moderated and graded by AI. And it’s that last word — AI — that presented Breakout Learning with an uphill battle. How could a company that leverages AI not only break through the AI noise in the media but also overcome the skepticism about using AI in education? All the while, Breakout Learning’s target audience has used the same teaching method for more than 100 years, which left a routine disruption as another battle this EdTech company would fight.
Breakout Learning tapped CSG for its expertise that not only resides in marketing and public relations but specifically in the higher education public relations industry.
The Strategic Approach from a Higher Ed PR Agency
CSG’s education PR experts crafted a communications plan that was grounded in elevating the transformative impact of Breakout Learning’s approach to reimagining the business case study with the purposeful use of AI. To overcome AI skepticism and disrupt the PDF case study regime, CSG highlighted Breakout Learning’s impact on learning, student satisfaction and faculty champions to generate awareness and thought leadership. With more than 90% of students from a UCLA class preferring Breakout Learning’s platform over the traditional case study method, we needed to put names and faces behind the enhanced teaching and learning experience.
By activating Breakout Learning champions who were using the platform, CSG orchestrated a webinar and education public relations to secure top-tier media coverage and generate leads.

Activating Champion Voices Through a Webinar and Education PR
With a webinar on How Top Business School Professors Tap AI to Enhance Case Studies and Discussions, Breakout Learning showcased how top business schools, including UCLA and NYU Stern, were using the platform. Panel participants including business professors, teacher assistants and an AI expert discussed using AI as a tool for the delivery of education and student achievement. To amplify the webinar, CSG invited reporters, prepped social media content and informed email promotion of the event utilizing Breakout’s database and partnership with associations.
This webinar resulted in more than 700 registrations and a myriad of opportunities to maximize the content for additional content marketing purposes such as white papers, mini videos and a digital campaign to continue generating interest.
Elevating use cases of Breakout Learning through champions carried over to our earned media efforts. By spotlighting the transformative role of Breakout Learning within a professor’s classroom, we effectively demonstrated the platform’s tangible and positive effects on higher education. This led to successfully securing earned media coverage in premier national consumer and higher education trade publications.
